I have played guitar for the past 50 years. Few years ago I sold my guitars collection keeping only a few… I saw the Donner’s price and the pretty good review in Guitar Player. Anyway, I bought first the cherry one and the sunburst a little later. They are both very nice guitars. The cherry one has a little thinner neck than the sunburst. Both are actually very fun to play. The construction is very good, the pickups of the sunburst are better to my ear than the cherry ones which were a little too hot for my taste, so I replaced them with some Tonerider 59 I already have. Those in the sunburst are more than OK for now. They are good guitars to customize. My only regret is that the tone controls are so-so. I change them and now the full range of tones is available. Finish on both guitar is impressive, tuning keys are Ok, bridges and tail pieces are fine.. Nuts are very good. Fingerboard just needed a little oil to feel great. Frets were fine but a little polishing made them very good. Very impressive guitars for the price…. A bit sorry for not buying the black one. CD2025

Guitar was very good. Great sound. I love it.

Fit and finish on this guitar are excellent. And the pickups are really decent with good range. However, the volume and tone pots do not live up to the rest of the guitar. Both volume and tone remain the same past 3 on the knobs. Definitely need to be changed out and the only reason I’m not rating it higher.

The guitar looks great and the pickups sound very nice. I haven't found any cosmetic flaws. A few things to mention. The red finish is A LOT darker than on the website images. Also, the screws on the bridge rattle. The fret ends are ok but still a little sharp. It's understandable given the price.

This is a great guitar. I am reliving my teens and getting back into playing guitar. For the price the quality nis very good. The delivery was perfect and I couldn't be happier. Love the style too, it's a work of art.

Quite a bit of set up needed. Buzzy strings, especially the low E, then B. Most disturbing is the loose cable connection that came off on day one. I had to watch quite a few videos to find the safest way to fasten it, even considering replacing it. So far, the fastening is holding up well for about 1 week. Certainly an upgrade from my Epiphone Les Paul Special II, but needs some getting used to as the fret seems or is longer. Donner rejected my "get additional discount" code for new members when I requested to apply it to the purchase. Apparently additional means something else. I will probably keep the instrument and continue to explore it.

Well, the courier used to deliver my guitar emailed me every day with the same info for a week untill it landed on my front step! A bit over zealous I would say. The guitar arrived safely and was in great condition upon opening the box. It's fit and finish was excellent and there were no blemishes anywhere that I could see. It played great and sounded fine except for the strings! they sounded dead and buzzy. I would recommend to Donner to use a higher quality string set in the future (Di'Darrio or Ernie Ball or Fender, etc) as thes ones were absolute "junk"! I did have to do a little round over filing on the fret ends as the were a bit sharp but, otherwise this was a great purchase. This was my fourth Donner guitar (adding to two Strats and a Tele ) and I am considering another purchase (DST- 152 Black) if it ever comes back into stock! I recommend this guitar very highly to anyone looking for a 335 style guitar!!!

The product is just what I wanted. the right sound, make and model. It sits comfortable on my led, which makes is easy play. I would recommend this product to my friends. I also found the engines nicely spaced, it makes it easy to tune the instrument. Overall I'll give it a(10).

Hi there, This is a beautiful guitar and it was shipped quite quickly! I would have given you 5 stars for that. However, there are two problems with the instrument: 1- There is a noisy electrical grounding problem. I have already contacted Donner about this problem. I suggested that the guitar be sent back to the expedition centre in Mississauga, Ontario, in order to have a problem-free model. I have already sent a video of the problem for the Donner specialists to look at. 2-The red colour of the guitar is much darker than in the pictures on the Donner website. I would have chosen a different finish (black or *sunrise*) if I had known this. I have bought a few things from Donner recently, mostly guitar effects pedals. So far so good. Amazing value for money. Very well finished and set up. As evidenced by many online videos, it was playable right out of the box. Frets did require some polishing.

Nice fit and finish, set up well done, sounds good after I changed the strings the strings seem to be very low qulity and still where stretching after a month. They where not as advertised Daddario .010 - .046 to bad! Just a suggestion, more packing! my guitar seems to have taken a one week detour (FED EX) to get here and the packing was all messed up, the small cardboard box to protect head stock was flat. suprised it is still playable Love it I enjoy playing it every day

The color is darker than I expected, there were no instructions re the operation of the coil split function and playing C or a G chord the lower E string will fall right off the neck as per video. So overall a little disappointed.

Hi, The guitar is fantastic, and the chorus pedal provides the perfect signal boost I needed. I absolutely love the beautiful sound it produces. However, one thing I noticed on the guitar is that the cutaway is a bit too small even for a medium hand, making it uncomfortable to reach the last 4 frets on the neck. But, I love the guitar. The es335 needed a setup to fix the intonation upon delivery. I am enjoying the guitar so far. Really like the tones that come out of it. I can recommend it as a budget guitar that is good enough for professional playing.

Very dusty out of the box . Quite a bit of set up needed. One tone control and one volume knob were loose. Once all that was done it plays beautifully. Very happy with the end result. You guys might want to spend a little more time in quality control. Cheers

I received my DJP 1000 335 style black guitar on time and without any damaged. Had it checked by a local luthier and there was nothing that needed to be done it. I 'm taking guitar lessons and really enjoy playing it. She's a beauty.

Love the guitar but the packaging was damaged (most likely by the delivery company) and I did not receive the patch cord. The guitar was undamaged and was set up extremely well with no issues or defects right out of the box. Extremely good value for the money.

Love this guitar! The neck feels great and the fret board is smooth! The guitar looks and plays great. It arrived within three days without issue. No tax and no delivery fee! Crazy!

Considering the price of this guitar, I am very impressed with the quality of the workmanship. After stretching the strings and tuning it, I checked the intonation and was very surprised to find it needed no adjustment. The fit and finish are top-notch except for the fret ends needing some work. I am not being critical when I say this as otherwise I could not find any other faults. I am enjoying getting used to playing this beautiful instrument. I want to Thank Donner for providing this model of a 335-style guitar, which I have wanted but could not afford before!

My purchase was flawless and delivery was quick. Very well packaged. I have to say, I am very impressed. Build quality is top notch. The tone I'm getting out of this 335 replica is better than I was expecting for this price range. I may, in time, upgrade the tuners and possibly the pickups. For now, I am loving it as is. We have purchased the cyclops, the hush1, the arena2000, the exquisite jazz1000 and most recently the DLP124. All in the last year. Your products are quality well beyond there price. However, last week we received the DLP through Amazon and realized the patch cord is cheaper than the one showed and more seriously the frets were dangerously sharp and no way should of been sold this way after inspection. All of the other guitars especially the hush have fantastic fret work. I have dressed the fret ends already. Hopefully this information will be useful. Thanks, still loving and recommending your products.

I bought one 6 months ago. Most of my other 6 guitars cost at least twice as much USED, and this is my favorite.

A beauty guitar with excellent fit and finish. As nice as those $4k at a fraction of the price. Pretty nice set up out of the box too!

This was the second DJP-1000 I purchased. The first, a black one, I purchased from a third party reseller on Amazon because Donner had none left. Unfortunately, it appears the black guitar had a known defect which someone tried to fix by making several "screwy" adjustments. I was surprised, since many YouTube reviewers said the their units arrived almost perfect out of the box. Eventually, I received a full refund through the intervention of Donner. I promptly took the refund and purchased this red DJP-1000 directly from Donner--their last one at the time. It arrived much as described by the YouTubers--almost perfect. It just needed to be tuned and a couple of strings needed a very slight intonation adjustment--that's it! It plays well, sounds great and looks dazzling! Because I have some finger issues, I decided to restring it with some lighter Ernie Ball strings. No problems. Minor intonation adjustment to a couple of strings, and it is playing still playing just as smoothly. Great guitar...no wonder they can't keep them in stock anywhere in the world! (Yes, I checked for fun.) I also have a Donner DST-152 Stratocaster style which is also great.

guitar was better than i thought it would be. sounds just fine and the split coil pickups were a great surprise. only drawback i found was that the neck was a little thick but only a shade too big.

I was shopping for an ES335 style guitar and found the Donner Jazz guitar for a very reasonable price. I am absolutely shocked at how well this guitar plays right out of the box. The coil tap function is a nice touch and I do like the flexibility of different tones resulting from playing around with the coil tap and the pick up selector. I am very pleased with my purchase.

As a gigging musician, and a luthier, I have owned and played quite a few guitars and built a good number of acoustic guitars so I have a clue about guitars. My gloss black Donner Jazz feels great to play. It sounds great through my tube amp. . All I’ve done so far is set the truss rod adjustment, checked intonation and action and put on new strings. Love playing this guitar and it looks fantastic. Craftsmanship is commendable. A decent and affordable guitar.

Not much to say, only for those guitar players who have a tendency to over look "Cheep" guitars: THIS ONE IS NOT CHEEP GUITAR, IT IS INEXPENSIVE AND VERY GOOD GUITAR. It does not just look great, it plays great. I have seven other guitars and one of them is Ibanez Jazz guitar which I love and all I can say here is that my new Donner Jazz guitar is definitely my NEW NUMBER ONE guitar. And also: I didn't have to touch anything. The neck and frets are so smooth (No filing edges needed.) THANK YOU DOONER PEOPLE!!!

I have all three of your DJP 1000 guitars and am very pleased with the overall construction and sound they produce, however the one problem they have is the neck strap button is on the neck itself and it is difficult to attach a strap , and it could work loose . My suggestion is to move it 1-1/4 inches onto the body. Other than that , these are very well made and look and sound wonderful ,, well done ,, and my Tele style is great as well , Thanks,,, Ernie

I've been playing guitar for over 50 years, this makes the 13th in my collection, and I cannot be any more pleased with this purchase,. I have Gibson's Fender's and other high-end guitars, and this plays just as equal as any one of the high-dollar ones.. I would definitely purchase this again, and would HIGHLY recommend it to anybody looking for a semi hollow body guitar..BRAVO

The guitar was a great purchase, and I would buy it again. Unfortunately, the tone knobs didn’t sound like their adjustment did anything. I wrote to customer service and asked what could be my issue…no response. I wrote again and asked for some wiring diagrams, so I could replace the knobs with a better brand…again no response. After replacing the pots, humbuckers and guitar jack, it’s a MUCH better guitar and I would now value in the $800 range. Sound, tone and pickups are now very nice.

It’s EXTREMELY well made you tell they care a ton about there craftsmanship. The sound this guitar produces is amazing. My small and ONLY complaint is this guitar did not come with an instruction manual for how the knobs work, or what they do. This is my first semi hollow body guitar and it would have been nice to have a guid on how to use the electronics. But never the less I’m extremely satisfied with this guitar.

I already own a true Gibson 335, this is a beautiful replica of thev335! But the important parts are not the same . It is a beautiful guitar and well worth the money . You can improve the electronics and the frets as you grow as a player a beginner will love the Ax!

J'ai plusieurs guitares Fender ,Gibson.... mais la Donner DJP-1000 335 est rendue ma guitare préférée, la touche, le manche et le sustain sont impressionnants, brancher un Fuzz sur cette guitare et nous voila dans les annees '60 '70. Rien a redire sur la finition, aucune frette buzz, un bel instrument. Pour le prix, c'est un très belle occasion de se gâter avec une Semi hollow body ,

Impressive for de budget! It sound very great, the touch is very good. I was scared to ordered online and get a guitar shiped by a carrier but, everytings go well and I'm very satisfy of the product. If you are on a budget and want a semi-hollow guitar, well I don't think you can get a better choice. It look amazing on my wall with my other 8 guitars! :o)

See video for sound demo! I like to keep the stickers and pick guard plastic for a few months before removing them.(personal preference) Also, please forgive hearing the sound of the strings. I don’t like when it gets picked up by the mic, but I couldn’t play as loud as I wanted to at the time. The first thing you’ll notice about this guitar is that it’s gorgeous. I love the cherry color/trim combo. My pictures don’t do it justice, neither do the advertised pics in my opinion. It’s beautiful in person. I play all my guitar tones through my PC with a game called rocksmith 2014. I used to have more feedback/PC lag on my old guitar, but it’s significantly reduced on this Donner. I like to stick to one guitar if possible to play as many styles as possible. I was thinking this one may not be the type to handle overdriven/heavy metal playing, but I was wrong. It sounds amazing on everything I’ve played with it. Absolutely versatile. It’s cheaper in price than the name brands, but performs just as well. My only quip with this guitar was its ability to hold a tune. However, I’ve noticed it getting better the more I’ve been playing and retuning it. It’s totally manageable now and doesn’t lose a tune while playing it, just after I’ve hung it for the day and return the next. As I write this review though, it hasn’t lost its tune and I haven’t played it for 2 days so that’s great! Overall, this is a great option for any guitar player. You get versatility along with that beautiful look. It’s lightweight and can be played for hours without discomfort. I would recommend this guitar by Donner. It’s going to be my main one for years to come

The finish is really good, the neck size is big compared to what I'm used to but it's fine and comfortable. I had to perform a little setup and it plays great. The bridge pickup is really nice the neck one is ok, I might have to play with its height. The fret work is fine, they could be polished a little more. I don't think they are medium -jumbo as the specs are saying for me they are medium. The pots will have to go, the taper is not great but this was expected. All in all not a bad buy.

Good product. Well made and produces tones worthy of the ES335 guitar. Good pickups that don’t need to be replaced, like other lower priced guitars.

I loved it. It has the perfect tone I was looking for to play some blues. The settings give you a bunch of options and tone changes are excellent. I have played it for a few weeks now and it has kept its tunning even though I use lots of blending. The design and colours are beautiful, it is light and having tone and volume for each humbucker is perfect. I'm now very curious into other models from Donner as with those prices you can't go wrong.

Great guitar, I absolutely love it. The action is low which makes it a joy to play and has good quality pick ups.

Only really played acoustic so this was the perfect next step. No experience on how it should sound next to more expensive ones but really like this guitar. It comes with a better cable than my rubber ones a nice guitar strap and a really good padded bag, it's not just a guitar cover it has some protection. Set up was easy, tuned it in and played. and it sounds great. Well done Donner.
